I really liked the essay you cite, is it Mary Beth, Mater. I think that that's good to capture the sort of virtual actual distinction in mathematics. You can have an axiomatic that's the more general virtual side, and then you can have various different models that draws upon the axiomatic That can sort of actualize them in practice.
