How Much Performance Matters More Than the Pixel Being Pretty?

I remember vividly the first time using Spotify, still back in the Netherlands. There's not a lot of random shit flying around. It just feels like a smaller community. And so you post more lightly. We're seeing this with Mastodon now. Man, it's pain to be asked to find the right server even? I just picked one. But now that I'm on there, it's like, it's 2011 Twitter or 2009 Twitter. The heavy rotation thing was really awesome but clicking on a song took three seconds to play.
