Ethics, Is That What You're Saying?

A lot of ethics is just instrumental reasoning. If we want people to get along, then we should do it this way. Or we should be kind to each other. And at some level, there's a question of what do we care about? Different people are built differently. Some people care about others and some people don't. But there's not an independent way of saying, well, it's good to care about others... It's good if you want a functioning society that is preserved in the long term. ... But if you don't want that, you want people to go extinct and, sure, inject more conflict in society. That's what you need.
