The Evolution of Moral Psychology
Psychology and philosophy drifted apart for a while but now they're getting back together again. Some philosophers are learning the psychological techniques and vice versa. And what sort of things that being discovered? Well here's one example from Josh Green it's fairly well known. In traditional philosophy the Kantian or deontological judgments were associated with rationality and reason whereas the utilitarian judgments and following Bentham and Mill tended to be associated with a sentimentalist tradition in Britain. But when you scan people's brains while they're making distinctively deontological or rule based judgments those are the ones that tend to make emotional centers of your brain more active.
