The book is about a group of people in the future who have lost their ability to travel in space. They decide to intentionally reconstruct history so that they'll eventually get to the space age by faithfully going through the other erras first. But it doesn't work because there's a pocket to mention where people pop out and invade them. Anthe, the student osot the high school, has to solve the thing. It meats a great example of a premise that i could imagine ten different really awesome novels or sermess being made the same way.
