I've Made a Policy on the Spot

i've made a policy on the spot in conversations half a dozen times. The first time i did it, and i was ruck by how powerful it was an othat. It probably doesn't occur to somebody on the other side of the table that the person making thi statement is often the person who makes the policy. So make the decision in advance that you're not going to do something, and then state it as a policy.
