The Attribution of Blame in Times of Trauma
In this book, and it's clear from the very start of the book, the very first sentence is, this morning I met the man who started the fire. It's very clear that there are people starting fires to unlawfully clear land they want to build on. As a reader, I felt a real fury at that recklessness. I was happy to blame him, even if I acknowledge climate change is making it worse. But I sensed you were more ambiguous about that desire to blame one person and there's all sense of how the community deal with it. They're in secret.
