The Breakdown of Family Values in India
When a girl wants to go out to work, she must take the permission of her father, her brother, her father-in-law, her husband, and sometimes even the entire village panchayat. The hospitality trade in India has huge demand for skilled women but it is the family that says, array, this is not good work for our daughters. And I have spoken to fathers who have said, I don't want to serve food to men in a restaurant. When we spoke about motherhood, there is data that suggests mothers are more likely to work because they will look after their children afterwards.
