When you have a knuckle ball, it is completely susceptible to the slightest breeze. A lock ball is notorious for past balls. The pitcher and the batter are in every play of every game. If the pitcher throws a wild pitch or the catcher as a passball, it is not counted as an error. They handle the ball so much that you got to cut em.
