The DSM-5TR: A Comprehensive Guide to Schizophrenia
The DSM-5TR states that to diagnose schizophrenia, two or more symptoms must be present for one month and the disturbance must persist for at least six months. The three primary symptoms are delusions, aka false beliefs, hallucinations, and disorganized speech such as incoherence. If the onset occurs in childhood or adolescence, the individual's academic performance, relationships, and self-care will diminish remarkably.
