The Four Significant Shifts in the Narrative of Deliverance

Exodus 1:1-4 is a story of the great deliverance. The Israelite people were enslaved in Egypt under Pharaoh who was undoubtedly cruel. Moses had already come onto this scene but what we see in him after the Passover is a leader turned shepherd. He would literally lead them to greener pastures but he would also be to them a shepherd who guides them and cares for them, demonstrates Yahweh's love for them on their behalf.
