Are You Getting Stars?

Galaxies stop producing new stars when they run out of gas. It's not a gradual process, like when your car stops the obi. The galaxies are huge, but you might imagine that one part of it might quench aanother part of it may still be active. But this seems to happen on a sort of galaxy wide scale, all at once.
