The Functions of the Naphron
The naphron is the functional unit of the kidney. Does all the filtering and does all the reabsorption and secreting. We create 180 to 200 liters of filtrate, which is a lot of fluid. But we don't pee that 180 liters out. We only pee 1.8liters out. So that's 1%, which means we reabsorb 99% of that stuff that we filter back into the blood. And Michael, in our blood, we should have around about 140 odd millimoles per liter of salt or sodium.
