At nine, I told my mom I was going to cook Thanksgiving dinner all by myself. So I was self taught in cooking. At some point when I was at Microsoft, I realized I had all of these degrees and all these topics, but I'd never gone to cooking school. And so I actually got Bill to give me a leave of absence from Microsoft to attend chef school in France. Then I came back and then worked at Microsoft for many more years.
