Is There a Twist in Alien?

Peter Weir is so unlikable even before he's possessed. Once he becomes the monster that they're dealing with, then he gets less screen time. You're not from his perspective anymore. Now you're following Miller. I get the feeling that that was the intention to have it be a twist. But it's just so confusing and muddled that it ends up just being like nothing.
