Spending and Job Finding Impacts of Expanded Unemployment Benefits
During the pandemic, David Frum says spending of unemployed households actually went up. This is in our view, largely related to the $600 a week that was being paid out during that time. There's a statistically significant effect that the more generous benefits reduce job finding but the magnitude of the effect is smaller than any other study ever.
