Women in the Crusades - Are They Competent?

Do we need to look at them as victims of these battles and wars or sieges going on? There are women inside these cities who are deeply afflicted by all of these things. I guess the big juicy meaty bit here is women being involved in the military aspects of the crusades. Yes, they've evolved at every level.
