The Transition From Discrimination to Stigma
Sally Kohn: I want you to talk about that transition a little bit from discrimination to stigma, if you want to call it that. She says the idea is that beliefs on one side of a market and incentives for action on the other side of the market are related to each other. Kohn: Employers have beliefs about groups of workers, workers have incentives to acquire skills. If populations are discernibly distinct one from another, like black and white in a multiracial setting, employers can end up believing differently about the populations.
