The Battle of the Aleutian Islands

The U.S. Navy is blockading the islands of Attu, Kiska, and the Aleutian Islands up there because the Japanese are there. Indianapolis got her first kill there, didn't she? She did, yeah. In February, Indianapolis, in company with cruisers USS Coglin, DD-606, and Gillespie, DD-609 were ordered to perform that very mission anti-shipping patrol following the bombardment of the Japanese garrison on Attu on February 18th.
