The Military Reason to Defend Bachmut
Bachmut is not a big city. Russians are claiming that they want to occupy the rest of the Donetsk Oblast. If we even imagine that Ukrainian forces defend Bachmut, there will be still very good positions to defend Slaviansk for example. And from the military point of view, let's see how it goes, but my guess is that further developments and specifically linked to what is about counter-fence will show us quite clearly.
