The company was founded by 25-year-old Alex wang, who wanted to help solve the problem of how to identify people stealing food from his refrigerator. It started out imitating data for autonomous driving vehicles and then moved up the stack in tools that its engineers at scale used to solve that first challenge. Now it's trying to emulate human perception, vision, language, et cetera.
