After the civil war, african americans had the chance to own land. But after 19 those numbers began to fall off a cliff. The way it works in north carolina is we have called heir property. It's very hard to manage a farm when you have hundreds or thousands of fractional owners each with a tiny pieceA and meant was that those farms were very hard to keep up. This is another example of ownership gridlock as the same exact story why a lot of drugs don't get made to day a potentially are available.
