Jacques Derrida's Violence and Metaphysics
Derrida was part of this French intelligency who thought that any curb on desire, anything that bounded anything off was a form of violence. So I think there's always that possibility within the conversation of violence that the desire to protect against it can flip into its opposite. He values a radical form of openness that eventually robs his definition of violence of its power.
