Is the Fall of Babylon the Great Fallen?

The fall of Babylon is paradigmatic in scripture, particularly in the book of Revelation. Why might the fall of Babylon be so paradigmatic? How does the judgment upon Babylon anticipate a much greater and more final awaited judgment? Romans chapter 6: Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means. Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death. Just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
