The Importance of Genesis 1 in Mesopotamia
There does sound like a lot of parallels, right? You get Marduk, even though you've got a kind of a polytheistic system. A feature of Genesis 1 is the creation of the man and woman in the image of God. So it's almost like Genesis 1 is a story imagining like we don't actually need a temple in Jerusalem. The whole world is God's temple.
