In 29 BC, Octavian decides he's going to go off and conquer somewhere else. He gets as far as Gaul before some of the Illyrians revolt. So at that point he decides he needs to head back and conduct another campaign in Illyria. But having got there, he decides to launch a campaign against the Del Marti. The Del Marti possessed a number of standards that they had taken from the Roman army. They were further along the coast near the area that is today split.
