Eric Clapton: My two best friends in school told me I was never going to be a guitar hero. Conrad Michael and Jerry, who were the three Black students in my class, they were in a musical talent show. They knew that I had this equipment at home, these samplers that were like, I barely knew how to use. And they were like, do you want to try and make us like a track for this talent show? It was like a judge by Reverend Al Sharpton. "I didn't know how to sync anything up," he says of his early DJing days.
