Wild life relying on the lake also suffered from the heavy rain. Hippoes, snakes and other species fled the rising waters. But with the banks of so much of lake victoria so developed by humans, their flight sometimes put them into close contact and conflict with people. Days after she went to collect water, vigina atieno's remains were found not far from her house by wild life service. She had probably been attacked by the large crocodile that her neighbors had tried to scare away around the time of her disappearance. Sadly, events like these are becoming more common as our climate keeps changing so dramatically and rapidly, usually for the worse.
