CHAPTER

The Potential Unmet Needs for Measurement of Intraocular Pressure

The amount of plastic that we're using is obviously a key focus and we are essentially just using a tonometer head each time. We transitioned from reusable prisms to single use prisms due to the risk of infection particularly with CJD and prior related infections so I don't think anywhere in the UK now uses reusable prisms as far as I'm aware but there are other countries where they do. There's another potential advantage of some of the newer tonometers that can be networked and automatically export measurements into someone's electronic record.
