The Importance of Factual and Procedureal Knowledge
Scientific studies of knowledge workers demonstrate that expert knowledge does include facts and procedures. Expertise includes knowing how to categorize situations and problems so know what kinds of solutions will apply. People who have a deep conceptuon al understanding learn facts more easily, and they can use those facts more readily. The reason is because they have a higher level of experts, right? So they got to a high level of expertse at that point, you know, matthew effects are in play. And so if you know a lot, it's easier to learn more. You need some level of breadth and lots of depth in order to understand where to apply something that you learned din some specific context.
