Sella gives strict orders that the soldiers are to treat the countryside of Italy as if it were Sella's own backyard. The inhabitants of these regions are to be left with the impression that Sella is not a champion of war, but an establishment of peace. This was good for the troops morale and made them feel like the good guys. But then another big boost of morale comes when two Roman generals who defect from the regime.
