The Ego Is More Accurate Than the Super Ego

Froyd's model of self is more accurate than the super ego, he says. When you're doing things just to get pleasure or stimulation, really what you're doing is your behaving in an unconscious way - and it's destroying your life. Your higher self is not a mixture of both good and bad elements like the super ego. And so if we reformulate that whole model, then what you've got isyou've got the id, which is the negative stuff, and then you've got the higher self. That's where it properly belongs.
