Oldham and the Stones - A History of the Beatles
The Stones were signed by Dick Row, the man who had turned down the Beatles. They recorded a truck Berry song called Come On which they thought had most commercial potential. During the recording, Oldham told the engineer not to make up the piano. He also changed Keith Richards' surname, dropping the S to be more like Cliff. The group got new suits for their first TV appearance and found out there were only five of them, not six. Ian Stewart discovered Oldham had had him kicked out of the group thinking he was too old and too ugly.
