A key condition for being able to make sense together and to sort of avoid that sociopathic free writer problem you're talking about is for communities to have semi permeable boundaries. That basically means the community needs to own the commons, not someone in far away in Cupertino or elsewhere. So I'm rather excited for a future where that's actually becoming more and more possible.
