The Importance of Ethnicity in the Three-Futatories Rebellion

There wasn't any kind of fundamental changes to how the court viewed these Han banners after the three-futatories. The big change was towards all kinds of indirect rule, which I think the Qing would have liked to move away from. In the translucent mirror, I narrate a lot of this. This was a subject of contention, not just in China, but all across Eurasia in the 15th, 16th, 17th centuries. And what had happened at the end of the Ming, for the Qing ever got there, was this move towards racialization of identities.
