The Legacy of the Second World War
Stalinist transformation of the Soviet economy has essentially been completed. There's a new cultural focus on Ukraine, which is defined by a fellow called Zhdanov in a larger cultural turn. In these two camps, there's not really any longer a vision of progress. The Soviets are now going to define themselves against the West through culture.
