I Was 8 Years Old and I Was Scared

My mom had this guy, Nino, come around 2-3 times 4. She went upstairs to the main part of the house to cook dinner. I was left downstairs with this guy that she met a handful of times just partying. We were both sitting on this sectional couch. He was in the corner seat, beat up on the couch with work boots on and just lounging. A week later my younger brother and I were in her coworkers car headed to her job. My mom was reading the newspaper and it says oh my god. Nino had been arrested for breaking into a home and assaulting a child.
