Technology can only be understood in this way, that develops in one particular fashion. We need to insure that our resources go into realizing and developing those technologies rather than doing all these other things which wouldn't have these kind of termas consequences. There is a lot of overlap between the tecentral risk community and the tech billionaires who are making decisions that will affect billions of people.

Paris Marx is joined by Émile P. Torres to discuss why longtermism isn’t just about long-term thinking, but provides a framework for Silicon Valley billionaires to justify ignoring the crises facing humanity so they can accumulate wealth and go after space colonization.
