LZ Granderson: We need police officers to engage in priority discretion when laws are really specific, right? And most of the time the answer is no. You can break a whole bunch of laws in front of police officers while you're driving and they're just not going to stop you because this just not worth it. LZ: But if a law is vague, you might not have a lot of violations, but you will have officers engaged in interpretation of the statute that's unclear whether there's a violation and I need to make a judge. So point for my purpose is we're stuck between priority discretion, lots of violations, which ones do I enforce and interpretive discretion. It
