Freud's the Death Drive

The death drive really fascinates me. Where do we see the death drive show up in everyday life? Freud said that you had to separate this life-death, love-death thing for the sake of theorizing and explaining what he needed to explain about the way that pleasure functions in the human being. They're always tied together. So, you always have a bit of both, let's say. But his point about the death drive was to basically just say that we were self-destructive as a species.
