In 1305 BCE, Egypt's political establishment seems to have been in a good place. King Hormheb was dead, having passed to the west in his 27th year of rule. The transition from one king to another would take time in a couple of different steps. Upon gaining authority, Remmeces had two jobs to complete before he could really begin his reign. He first needed to bury his predecessor, Horam Hems Body, undergoing mummification. It then fell to government officials to prepare that funeral.
