I watched Cosmic Slop first because George Clinton, my mom and my dad, hippies, black people. And then wanting to know who's the me being a writer, even after I was maybe 13 or 14 when I saw it. Derrick Bell reiterates that almost like Afro-pessimism, existential engagement with Black life has been just a much part of our legacy too. Just Black optimism and faith is so strong.
