In May 1979, they took the first 16 Ethiopian Jews to Khartoum Airport. After landing in Greece, they took a connecting flight to Israel. Two months later, another 16 Ethiopian Jews arrived in the promised land. Most broke down in tears upon landing. Others kissed the ground, while one even ate the soil under his feet.
