What Is DEIXIS?

In order to communicate effectively, there has to be some sort of common ground. And it's like that common ground creates the trap that we're circling around here. All language is written; all thought needs to be speech in order to be understandable and legible and intelligible. Deexis is my term, a sort of a placeholder term for the moment before that.
