Gas stoves do emit nitrogen dioxide particulate matter in other pollutants. The dangers can be mitigated with good ventilation, but indoor pollution is not heavily regulated in the US. Burning gas also releases greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide and methane. In 2019, Berkeley and California became the first American city to prohibit the fuel for heating and cooking in new buildings.
