The king dispatched Brian of Brittany to deal with the rebellions in Shrewsbury and Exeter. With him, William sent his childhood friend and trusted companion, William FitzOsburn. The combined Welsh Cheshire army had taken control of the city. And that would leave the bulk of the army free to continue the fight in the north.
