The book was intended to draw people's attention to it because I am an idealist. The West, the Southwest anyway, is what becomes Mississippi and Alabama. And so that westward move from Georgia is an extremely important development,. especially because cotton extraction is so much more prevalent there. Even though the war is fought largely between the political entities in the eastern part of the country, it is in fact fought over the West.
