The Politics of the Possible
There's a lot of fights here about whether we're going to have a ballot initiative like they did in Michigan that would put abortion rights into the state constitution. The legislature has responded to that by figuring out, okay, what position will take the steam out of the ballot initiative but still keep most of what we want? That's how medical marijuana became legal in Ohio. So we Ohio could suddenly flip from a state where that's very restrictive on abortion to one that's very permissive because there's no muscle memory about how to negotiate it.
