China and Russia's Relationship Today

The current period of sunny relations has already lasted for 30 years. That's three times as long as the unhappy, so-called Sino-Soviet honeymoon of the 1950s. In many respects it's a deeply conservative partnership grounded in values espoused by 1648 Treaty of Utrecht. Russia and China have been pushed together by military confrontation with Western countries. But there's no indication that they want to break with their Russian partners over these issues.
