In her own work, I focus on the concept of the colonized mind. There's such a rich area for reflection when we think about how women and girls are taught from a very young age that being pretty is currency. And it's so interesting that the two have been combined in this way, being pretty and being quiet. It sounds like for you, the quiet piece was really hard to digest. Did you have a relationship with the prettier piece or how did that land?
